There are two main high-reliability UV sources: microwave-powered UV irradiators and UV LEDs. The main differences between the two is that LEDs are generally monochromatic, but are more compact and efficient. This means that you can’t cure everything with an LED, since many coatings require a broadband source (many wavelengths). If you can cure your coating with LED, it’s a very strong choice. However, microwave-powered irradiators are still a solid technology.

We can help you figure out what kind of source would be best for you using our lab.

OmniCure® AC Series UV LED

OmniCure AC Series air-cooled, UV LED Curing Systems offer high power and low-temperature curing for maximum throughput performance and production yields. Suitable for a variety of adhesives, coating and inks, these systems utilize high-output LEDs and advanced front-end optics to achieve high-peak irradiance and exceptional uniformity for greater flexibility to develop UV curing processes to meet your needs.

Heraeus Microwave UV

Heraeus microwave powered UV systems consist of two easy-to-service, modular design components.  The microwave powered UV lamp and its high-voltage power pack.

The systems are available in the sizes 167 mm and 267 mm and, due to modular extension capability, can provide any radiation exposure width required in a process. In the case of variable process widths, modules that are not required can be switched off which results in reduced process costs.

The core of the microwave powered lamp system is the electrodeless lamp bulb which features an exceptionally long service life without aging effects.
Lamp bulbs are available with different emission spectrums to optimally adjust the lamp system to the chemistry to be cured.

Advantages of the microwave powered UV system:

  • Highest intensities at the substrate for high production speeds and process reliability during curing
  • System solution for retrofitting to existing plants
  • Fast switch-on and switch-off without impact on service life
  • Guaranteed lamp bulb life of 6,000 to 8,000 hours of operation

OmniCure® CV300 Conveyor

The OmniCure CV300 is a versatile conveyor system designed to complement the OmniCure AC Series of high power LED UV curing systems and is suitable for production, laboratory and research and development applications. The CV300 can handle substrates up to 310 mm (12.2”) wide on its open mesh Teflon® coated fiberglass belt with an effective curing area of up to 300 mm (12”) depending on the OmniCure LED system being utilized.
